GRFD: Fireworks start grass fire

About an acre of grass at Mary Water Park burned

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A grass fire broke out at Grand Rapids' Mary Waters Park Monday afternoon.

The fire scorched an acre or acre and a half of hillside near East Leonard Elementary school near Leonard Street and Lafayette Avenue NE.

The blaze is now out.

Firefighters on scene said they believe fireworks started the blaze.

There have not been any reports of injuries.
