GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - An afternoon of free music is scheduled to take place at Calder Plaza in downtown Grand Rapids in August.

Rob Bliss unveiled plans for the Grand Rapids Electronic Music Night 2011 on Friday afternoon.

The free event will bring internationally recognized music acts to Grand Rapids on Saturday, August 20th at 4 p.m.

In 2010, more than 15,000 people crowded the downtown music event.

According the a news release, the event has quadrupled in sound, lighting, budget and talent this year.

Rob Bliss Events will be partnering with Shannon Williams, a nationally recognized DJ, to help make the electronic music event as big and successful as possible.

The host of GREMN '11 will be Blake Lewis, runner-up to win American Idol.

The music line-up includes acts like Kenneth Thomas and Anthony Attalla, along with local talent like SuperDre, Brandon Hill, and Steve Swift.

VIP tickets will be up for sale this year, allowing concert goers access to elevated seating, front row seating, upgraded alcohol selections, a private entrance and more.

"When we talk about the Michigan Brain Drain, this is the kind of stuff that a lot of young people in this area are missing," said Rob Bliss in a news release. "Yes jobs are without a doubt a huge priority, but so is the culture and pride of an area. We're going to continue to take the steps towards proving that Grand Rapids is an exciting and vibrant place to live, work, and visit, with something special for everyone from any background."
