GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A grass fire near a substation sent smoke billowing into the air above Grand Rapids.
The fire sparked around 7:50 p.m. in a field south of Wealthy Street near a Consumers Energy substation and Coca-Cola bottling plant.

The Grand Rapids Fire Department was on scene working to douse the blaze.
Because there are no hydrants in the area, firefighters had to rely on tankers and were running low on water. The Walker Fire Department assisted with one of its tanker trucks.
It only took about a half hour to get the fire under control.
There have not yet been any reports of power outages.
It's not yet known what sparked the fire.
