DALLAS, Tex. (AP) - Items that belonged to President Gerald Ford and first lady Betty Ford have sold at auction for about $132,000.
Dallas-based Heritage Auctions said that the late president's golf clubs were the top earner at the Tuesday auction of about 50 items. The clubs -- in a bag bearing the late president's name, two American flags and the presidential seal -- sold for about $26,290.
A hooked rug with the presidential seal went for about $13,145. A Halston gown of Betty Ford's sold for about $7,768
The items were offered up by the Ford family to raise money to fund construction of a new student learning center at the Gerald R. Ford Museum in Grand Rapids.
Gerald Ford died in 2006. Betty Ford died last year.
