GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A huge structure fire raged on Grand Rapids' southeast side Tuesday evening.
The building at Lee Auto Export, 1515 College Ave. SE, is considered a total loss.
The last employee left around 8 p.m. and the fire was called in at 8:24 pm., according to emergency personnel.
As the search for a cause continues, authorities do not have reason to believe the fire is suspicious.
Twelve fire trucks responded, along with several other emergency vehicles.
Authorities at the scene told 24 Hour News 8 there were up to 15 vehicles and other auto equipment in the building at the time of the blaze.
Witnesses said they heard several loud explosions, flames leapt into the air and the heat was felt from a block away.
The fire was under control by 9:30 p.m, but firefighters were on the scene as of 11 p.m. putting out hotspots.
Consumers Energy was also at the scene for awhile after some power lines caught fire.
