The holdup took place at the branch at 700 Bridge NW around 12:40 p.m., police said in a release.

A short, slim man showed a teller a note demanding money, then fled the scene after receiving some cash.

The man believed to have perpetrated that robbery was arrested around 8 p.m. Thursday on Grand Rapids' west side.

A weapon was also retrieved in front of the Fulton Street Liquor Store near the intersection of Fulton Street and National Avenue SW

GRPD made the arrest after a short chase through the neighborhood near the area where the suspect dropped the gun.

The name of the man in custody is being withheld pending arraignment.

Both the Grand Rapids police and the FBI are investigating. If you have information, you're asked to call the GRPD at 616.456.3604 or Silent Observer at 616.774.2345.
