GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A 35-year-old man from Grand Rapids died after he was ejected from his vehicle that crashed on a Kent County highway Friday morning.

It happened around 7 a.m. in the westbound lanes of Interstate 196 west of Market Avenue near Grand Rapids.

Robert Sanders' Saturn VUE "abruptly left the roadway, entered the median and rolled over several times," according to a news release from Michigan State Police.

Saunders was the only person in the vehicle, appeared to have been wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash, and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors, and the cause is still investigated, police said.

Witnesses are asked to call state police at 616.866.4411.

One lane was blocked for nearly seven hours.
