Construction barrels up, gas down

M-DOT suspending 100 projects, not in West MI

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Heading into the weekend before the busy 4th of July travel week, gas prices continue to go down at the pump, though construction barrels are still up all over.

The major road projects taking place along the highways of West Michigan are not among the 100 construction projects that M-DOT will put on hold around the 4th.

The lane squeeze along US-131 in downtown Grand Rapids will remain in place throughout the week. The same goes for the construction north of the city between Cannonsville Road and M-46.

The lane shift in Allegan County between 130th Avenue and 60th Street will also stay put.

Gas prices continue to drop around West Michigan.

The lowest prices that 24 Hour News 8 found as of Friday morning were in the Kalamazoo area -- at least one gas station was selling a gallon of regular unleaded gas for $3.23.

Prices in Grand Rapids were in the upper $3.30 range and prices along the lakeshore were in the lower $3.30s.
