GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A 21-year-old Grand Rapids mother whose 2-year-old swallowed crack cocaine has temporarily lost custody of the child.
Child protection workers got a tip March 8 that a child at a Franklin Street SE home had put drugs in his mouth.
Authorities found drug paraphernalia, vomit in a trash bin and feces on the floor. They also noticed a large knife on a counter within the child's reach.
The mother Stacy Gatlin was arrested for disorderly conduct after police and social workers entered the home.
The 2-year-old later tested positive for cocaine.
The child is now living with his father. There will be a hearing in May to determine if the child will be returned to his mother.
