Carjacking victim, thieves swap gunfire

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A carjacking victim exchanged gunfire with a group of males during the theft of the vehicle.

It was 8:20 p.m. Monday when a group of at least 10 males confronted the car owner in the 1000 block of Neland Avenue SE in Grand Rapids.

The group stole the vehicle and the victim started to run away.

One of the suspects had a gun and started shooting at the victim.

The victim also had a gun and started shooting at the suspects.

No one was hit with bullets.

The vehicle was located at 11:45 p.m. near Wealthy Street and Prospect Avenue SE.

The driver fled but was arrested.
