GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - The Grand Rapids Police Department is investigating an attempted carjacking and the attempted robbery of a woman -- two non-related crimes that occurred nearly two hours apart.

The first incident occurred at 10 p.m. Tuesday near Hall Street and Euclid Avenue SE.

A driver told police that a stranger with a gun approached him and tried to rob him and steal his car. The driver drove away and officers searched the area but were not able to find the suspect.

No gunshots were fired and the driver was not hurt.

Then at 11:52 p.m. police responded to an area near Franklin Street and Neland Avenue SE where a woman reported two men armed with pistols tried to rob her before running away.

A police K-9 unit was used in the search for this suspect but to no avail.

The woman was not hurt and no bullets were fired. It is not known if anything was stolen from the woman.

Police have not released descriptions of the suspects.
