Man surrenders after GRPD surround home

Shot fired into air during argument

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A domestic dispute that escalated into a shot being fired brought a heavy police presence to a southeast Grand Rapids neighborhood early Tuesday afternoon.

During an argument, police said, a man fired a gun into the air.

When police arrived, the man did not want to come out of the house in the 200 block of Brown SE. Grand Rapids polcie then cordoned off at least three blocks and set up a command post at Hope Academy.

Shortly after it began, the man surrendered. He was taken into custody around 12:50 p.m.
