Bethel Pentecostal Church to be apts

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - For 90 years, the faithful have gone to church services at 834 Lake Drive SE, which for decades has been the home of the Bethel Pentecostal Church.

But construction begins in February to re-do the building into a 37-unit, 4-story apartment building.

The main facade will remain, including the brickwork and columns of the original building from 1923. A two-story addition will be added on top of an addition from 1967.

When it's completed in December 2013, the residential building will be 51,000 square feet.

The East Hills project is being done by Brookstone Capital, Wolverine Building Group and Progressive AE.
