GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A $100,000 grant was awarded Monday to the Cherry Street Health Services to help provide medical, dental and mental health services to the underserved and homeless around Grand Rapids.
The grant was awarded by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. The money will be concentrated on the uninsured or those without financial means to get appropriate care.
"There is a very significant gap in care for the uninsured and those who can't afford care," said Chris Shea of the Cherry Street Health Services.
The clinic focuses on integrated care, which is a treatment approach that combines medical care with behavioral health care.
Cherry Street Health Services is based in Wyoming.
