GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - April Juarez, who in May pleaded no contest to running down a teenage girl after a downtown bar fight, may want to withdraw her plea.
Juarez was scheduled to be sentenced Monday at 2 p.m. But the case was adjourned before proceedings could begin. The sentencing has been rescheduled for Aug. 9.
Court records show her attorney has asked the court to allow her to withdraw her plea in the death of Tiffanee Crews outside Taps in March. Juarez pleaded no contest to using her Cadillac to kill Crews, an innocent bystander. While not admitting guilt, her no contest plea would allow her to be sentenced on second-degree murder as if she was guilty.
