GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A Winter Storm Warning will begin for West Michigan at 7 a.m. Tuesday, bringing the biggest snowfall in two months to the area.
Snow will begin to develop in the wee hours of the morning in the southwest corner of the state and gradually move northeast, arriving in the Grand Rapids area near daybreak.
By mid-afternoon Tuesday, the area should receive about 2 to 5 inches by sunset, with more falling at a moderate rate into Wednesday morning. The snow will then diminish, with most areas seeing a total of 6-12 inches of snow.
The higher totals will be along and south of I-96, but the storm's sweet spot is along I-94.
With the snow will come strong winds Tuesday afternoon. Expect winds at 15-25 miles per hour with higher gusts.
Tuesday night and Wednesday morning will be the toughest commutes of the week. Once the storm passes, the week will close on a rather calm note with partly to variably cloudy skies.
