GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - There may be new life for an old, vacant gas station on Wealthy Street in Grand Rapids.
The owner of The Winchester bar and restaurant on Wealthy Street is working to get approval to develop the property across from his restaurant for a new eatery, Matt Buskard, the general manager of The Winchester and What The Truck?, confirmed to 24 Hour News 8.
Plans call for a major expansion to the gas station in the 600 block of Wealthy Street SE.
The place will be a "little more comprehensive than The Winchester. It'll have its own identity," according to Buskard. The building will remain "as historically sound as possible."
A final zoning meeting regarding the expansion is set for Thursday. After that, the developers will be able to provide more specific details about their plans.
Buskard said they hope to open the new restaurant next spring.
