GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A teenager will spend up to 40 years in prison for sexually assaulting and robbing two women in Grand Rapids last year.
Lucas Such, 18 at the time of his arrest, was sentenced Thursday afternoon after he pleaded no contest in January to three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of unarmed robbery on September 14, 2011.
Police say he and Greg Quinn Jr. assaulted the women in a secluded area near Plainfield Avenue and Grove Street on Sept. 14, 2011 as the victims were walking down the street.
After the assault, police released composite sketches of the suspects and received numerous tips from Silent Observer and the Creston Neighborhood Association. The tips were instrumental in the identification and arrests of Such and Quinn.
Such will spend 11-40 years in prison for the sexual assault. He was also sentenced to 10-15 years for each count of the unarmed robbery. His sentences will run concurrently.
Quinn, 22 at the time of his arrest, was arraigned on charges of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, unarmed robbery and being a habitual offender. He turned down a plea deal and his case will go to trial but no date has been set.
