Suspected GR bank robber caught

Arrest came a few hours after the robbery

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A suspected bank robber is in the Kent County jail after being arrested Friday evening. Grand Rapids police say the Chase Bank at 2430 Eastern SE was robbed at 4 p.m. 

The armed suspect handed the teller a note demanding money. The suspect got the money and rode away on a bicycle, which police say he later abandoned. He or she was seen later getting into a vehicle heading north on Marshall Avenue.

A few hours later, a person matching the suspect's description was seen walking on Wealthy Street SE near James Avenue. Grand Rapids police investigated and determined the 37-year-old Grand Rapids resident was involved in the robbery.
