GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - The yellow "smiley-face" signs that have popped up around Grand Rapids are tied to an announcement of an event for Gilda's Club Grand Rapids, 24 Hour News 8 learned just before 5 p.m. Monday.
The formal announcement is set for Thursday morning at the B.O.B. in downtown Grand Rapids. An email obtained by 24 Hour News 8 calls the event "huge," but didn't include any other details.
The club will announce "'something serously funny' that will be brought to town in the spring of 2011," according to a news release from public relations firm SeyferthPR.
Lawn signs have been planted around Grand Rapids and "smiley-faces" appear on some area billboards to promote the event.
