GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A 25-year-old Grand Rapids man was assaulted and possibly shot at around 3 a.m. Sunday, police say, although the investigation is ongoing.

Grand Rapids police arrested 22-year-old Quentin Barnett on Monday afternoon in connection with the incident. He was arraigned Tuesday afternoon in 61st District Court.

Barnett is charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, and for being a habitual offender. His bond was set at $15,000 and he remains in the Kent County jail, awaiting a preliminary exam.

Officers responded to what they believed was a shooting at Buchanan Avenue and Burton Street SW.

When they arrived on scene, they found a victim, Ulises Flores, and his vehicle, a white Lincoln Aviator, blocking the eastbound lanes of the intersection.

Flores was in the street, suffering from serious injuries. He had been confronted by a group of men in another vehicle, witnesses say. He was assaulted by at least one man, and witnesses say they heard a gunshot right before the men left the scene in a blue GMC sport-utility vehicle.

Officers are trying to locate a woman who they think Flores was with throughout the attack. They believe she has additional information.

Flores is at St. Mary's Hospital, listed in stable condition.

The blue GMC has been located.

People with information are asked to contact the Grand Rapids Police Department at (616) 456-3604 or Silent Observer at (616) 774-2345.
