GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Thousands of people rode the world's longest waterslide down the Lyon Street hill on Saturday, and even more people are expected Sunday.
After a delay Saturday morning due to rain, the 500-foot waterslide in downtown Grand Rapids opened and provided cool relief to those who'd waited in the long lines.
People who spoke with 24 Hour News 8 said they enjoyed the experience, "it was a lot of fun" and "I'd do it again if I had the time."
If you're planning to go Sunday, organizers say to get there early. Sunday's hours are 8 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Rob Bliss, the man behind the event, believes the waterslide will carry more than 30,000 people during the event.
Want to skip the line? Passes to do that are available for $30. Otherwise, the event is free.
Spanning nearly two football fields in length, the waterslide will be set up on Lyon St. between Ransom and Division.
Lyon St. is closed starting at Barclay to Division. A detour is set up on Lafayette and Ottawa.
