GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Done with your Christmas tree? You can recycle it for free at the downtown Holiday Inn.
Now through January 7, the Holiday Inn on Pearl Street will collect Christmas trees for recycling, along with two companies - MCM Rentals and Spurt Industries - that are donating their services.
There's no charge to recycle at this location. Make sure all the lights and decorations are off, and the stand is removed. The trees will be ground down and turned into soil, a media release noted.
City residents have other choices to recycle trees at two drop-off locations and residential pick-up services. But there's a fee attached with those.
"Our goal is to make recycling as simple as possible," Holiday Inn General Manager Ellen Markel said in a release."The holidays are busy enough, hopefully we can save residents a little time this way."
