GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Just days after the final low-income tenant moved out of the Morton House, Rockford Construction announced plans to purchase the facility in an expected partnership with RDV Corporation - a company owned by the DeVos family.
The 91-year-old building was originally a hotel. But 40 years ago, it became the first Section 8 (low-income) housing project in the city of Grand Rapids.
The sale is expected to be completed within 30-60 days. Rockford Construction has not announced what they plan to do with the property on Ionia in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids.
