GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - One person is dead after being shot multiple times in Grand Rapids Friday afternoon.

The shooting happened around 3:30 p.m. at 49 Andre SW.

The Grand Rapids Police Department confirms the victim was 20-year-old Tavon Terell Jackson.

Police found Jackson lying in the driveway with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest.

Several families and kids were outside during the time Jackson was shot.

"It's very disturbing because there were a lot of people outside, children were playing across the street from here and then we have a homicide occurring," said Captain Curt Vanderkooi from the Grand Rapids Police Department.

One neighbor told 24 Hour News 8 she has three children and is now moving after what happened.

Witnesses told police the suspect fled the scene on foot heading north through the woods .
