GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - There will be no plea deal for the man accused of killing and disposing of 2-year-old Jozlynn Martinez's body in February.
Jeffrey Malmberg, 30, was in Kent County Circuit Court on Wednesday, where he was told if he pleaded guilty to the second-degree murder charges he faces, the sentence is often less than if he is convicted in trial. But Malmberg declined.
Police say he has admitted to kneeling on Jozlynn inside the Grand Rapids home once he shared with a girlfriend -- now ex-girlfriend -- Connie Martinez. He also has said he disposed of her body after she died. It was never found, despite days of searching.
