GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Three men were arraigned Wednesday on charged of armed robbery and home invasion in connection to the robbery of what police call an illegal medical marijuana-growing operation.
Raheem Gant, Devaun Archie and Christopher Hopkins were all arraigned in the 61st District Court on armed robbery and home invasion charges, according to court records.
The three men were arrested Tuesday after they allegedly attempted to rob a residence.
The owner of the residence near Foster and Gonger streets NE called police Tuesday morning and said three men with guns were trying to rob him and that they were in pursuit of medical marijuana he was growing.
After a footchase, the three suspects arrested by Grand Rapids police officers.
Police then found that the marijuana being grown in the house is larger than what is allowed by law. The marijuana plants were confiscated.
There is not yet any word on charges against the owner of the home.
Archie has a long criminal record including home invasion, assault and battery, and receiving and concealing and motor vehicle.
Bond was set at $100,000 for each of the three men. All three remained lodged at the Kent County Jail, records show.
