GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - In the wake of the Grand Rapids shooting rampage, many people are honoring the officers who worked to stop Rodrick Dantzler.

The sidewalk outside the downtown police station is a makeshift thank you card covered with notes and messages written in sidewalk chalk.

The notes, with sayings like, 'job well done,' all thank the officers for their courage during the tense situation that took place in Grand Rapids on Thursday night.

Support for the officers is also flowing online.

Grand Rapids Police Chief Kevin Belk told 24 Hour news 8, "I'm grateful for that. I've gotten comments from people throughout our community through email and through text messages just expressing their gratitude."

"The reality is, many were praying for us throughout this event," he said. "That's certainly important and we appreciate that."
