GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A Grand Rapids woman who prosecutors said forwarded a crude joke text message including a pornographic image has pleaded guilty to furnishing obscenity to children after it was discovered that a 13-year-old Montcalm County girl was one of the recipients.
The woman, Leanna Duggins, told police she knew the message was going to the 13-year-old, even though the two had not met face-to-face, prosecutors told 24 Hour News 8.
Duggins had the 13-year-old girl's phone number because the girl's cousin used the 13-year-old's phone to call Duggins. The cousin and Duggins knew each other.
The message, which included a photo of the naked lower body of a woman taken from the internet, was sent by Duggins to a number of recipients including the girl, according to Montcalm County prosecuting attorney Andrea Krause.
Duggins faces up to 90 days in jail and a $500 fine. A sentencing date has not been set.
