GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A former Grand Rapids Public Schools student advocate already charged with having sex with two 16-year-old girls was arrested Thursday for violating his bond conditions.
Kenneth Hoskins Jr. was taken into custody by Grand Rapids police at around 4 p.m. Thursday.
An arrest warrant alleges Hoskins was seen at the Brickcrete Motel on South Division Avenue earlier this week with one of his alleged victims from the two criminal sexual conduct cases he faces in Kent County Circuit Court, according to his attorney, John Beason.
On Friday, he was in court on the bench warrant charge. Prosecutor Helen Brinkman asked for Judge Dennis Lieber to revoke his bond, but Beason maintains the woman seen with Hoskins was not the victim.
Brinkman countered the young woman was the victim in one case, and will prove it in the next court appearance on Monday. An affidavit used to get the bench warrant for Hoskins indicates a police officer saw Hoskins and the girl drive into the motel parking lot and that the girl ran but dropped her shoes.
The sworn statement says the girl's mother and sister confirmed those shoes belong to the victim.
Hoskins will remain in jail until at least that time.
Brinkman confirmed the 16-year-old was also arrested, but wouldn't say why.
Hoskins faces trial on two separate instances. One reportedly took place in a motel and the other occurred in his office at a school.
On Oct. 14, he rejected a plea agreement from the Kent County Prosecutor's Office, which led to his having to stand trial on both charges.
Hoskins resigned from the district when the charges were made public in June. Hoskins is the son of Rev. Kenneth W. Hoskins, the treasurer for the Grand Rapids Board of Education.
