GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A16-year-old Creston High School student pleaded guilty Tuesday to two weapons charges.
Damon Carson fired a handgun in the high school parking lot after classes were dismissed in September.
He was sent to Muskegon River Youth Home as part of his plea deal through Kent County Family Court. Prosecutors agreed to drop a charge of carrying a concealed weapon.
The charges Carson pleaded guilty to include carrying a gun in a weapons-free school zone and reckless use of a firearm.
The day after his incident, another Creston student was found with a sawed-off shotgun inside the school. High school officials heightened security after the incidents and brought in metal detectors.
