GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Some special athletes are hitting the hardcourts this weekend for their own variety of March Madness, and you're welcome to join the fun.
The Grand Rapids Jaycees is putting on The Special Olympics Basketball Finals and Skills Competition.
The Jaycees has been hosting this grand event for 28 years to support the Special Olympics. More than 250 volunteers will show their support for more than 850 athletes. And you can, too.
The Michigan state basketball finals will be held at 5 p.m. March 27 and 9 a.m. March 28 at Grandville Area Schools.
All games are free and open to the public. Come show your support at the basketball finals and cheer on the Special Olympics athletes.
A healthy athlete expo at the site will give athletes a chance to check their cholesterol, get a massage, and receive dental hygiene education as part of the Special Smiles program.
