GRPD: Sex offender tried to lure girl

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Grand Rapids police say a registered sex offender tried to lure a child with candy and they want to know if it's happened before.
Police locked up 67-year-old Roger Allen Severance on Friday after they say he asked a young girl if he could take her picture and said he had suckers in his pocket.
It happened near his home on North Avenue NE.
Police say the girl wasn't hurt, but they want to know if this has happened to other kids.
Severance was convicted in 1995 for a sex crime involving a child under 13.
Parole restrictions forbid Severance from having any contact with anyone under the age of 17, either directly or through another person. He's also prohibited from having photographic equipment.
Severance was arrested for a parole violation after the incident with the girl.
