GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A Grand Rapids police officer was injured when his vehicle was rear-ended as it redirected traffic while Michigan State Police investigated another crash.

It happened at 4:45 a.m. Monday in the southbound lanes of U.S. 131 near Burton Street.

The officer suffered a cut on the back of his head and was taken to a hospital, police told 24 Hour News 8.

Nobody was injured in the first crash involving two civilian vehicles.
