ROSELAND, Ind. (WOOD/WNDU) - A Grand Rapids woman was taken to the hospital after a fire broke out at her northern Indiana townhome.
It happened at about 3:30 a.m. Monday in the Dublin Village Townhomes in Roseland, Ind., just north of South Bend, according to South Bend NBC affiliate WNDU.
The fire fully engulfed the three-floor townhome, WNDU reported. An employee at a nearby hotel saw the fire and called 911.
When local authorities arrived, they found 21-year-old Jessika Lapres on the grass outside her townhome.
"She walked out through the garage door and that's about what she remembers," said Clay Fire Marshal Dave Cherrone told WNDU.
Lapres was treated for smoke inhalation and released from the hospital on Monday.
Officials say Lapres had recently moved to the area. Her Facebook page indicates she attended Notre Dame University.
The fire was caused by a charcoal placed too close to combustible charcoal lighter fluid, Clay Fire Investigators said on Tuesday.
