GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A 56-year-old man has been arraigned for allegedly biting the nose off a woman's face at a party Monday night.
Stephen Medawis was arraigned Monday afternoon and charged with mayhem.
Polly Snyder and the suspect were at an apartment in the upstairs portion of a home in the 700 block of Fifth Street NW in Grand Rapids when they started arguing, police told 24 Hour News 8.
Snyder walked to the Family Pantry on Stocking Avenue NW after the incident and called 911.
The 44-year-old Snyder was taken to a hospital and will need extensive reconstructive surgery. Her nose was not recovered.
Police said alcohol was involved in the incident, and Medawis has a long criminal history. Bond was set at $50,000.
