GR Public Museum puts collection online
90% of collection generally is kept in storage

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - The Grand Rapids Public Museum has unveiled an online collections catalog to the public.
The catalog allows users to find and research a wide variety of the museum's items, including those not currently on display. About 90 percent of the collection generally is kept in storage at any given time.
The museum announced this week that the catalog was available for browsing.
It's part of a broader effort to increase public access to the museum's collection. The museum says the online collections catalog currently contains more than 160,000 records, with others being added weekly.
