GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Until last month, Kenneth Dwayne Hoskins was a youth advocate for the Grand Rapids Public Schools.
Today, he's a man accused of criminal sexual conduct involving a
Grand Rapids student.
Hoskins, the son of Grand Rapids School Board member Reverend
Kenneth Hoskins, faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
The charges involve the sexual penetration of a victim court records indicate is at least 16, but younger than 18. There are indications there was more than one encounter involving Hoskins and the victim.
In court, the judge listed incidents occurring between January and June of this year.
School officials say another district employee brought accusations against Hoskins involving the student and an encounter at a Kentwood motel.
The district initiated an internal investigation, also calling in Grand Rapids police.
Hoskins resigned when confronted with the accusations.
Court records also listed 421 Fountain NE as a location involving the case. That's Central High School, where Hoskins worked.Grand Rapids police declined to says what the school has to do with the case, which remains under investigation.
Details are expected to emerge during Hoskins preliminary
hearing July 24.
During his arraignment, Hoskins asked the judge for a low
bond.
"I don't feel like I'm threat to anyone," Hoskins told Judge Jeanine Laville.
But the judge, considering the seriousness of the crime and concerns over the safety of the victim, ordered a $20, 000 cash bond.
