Donations for burned cat top $10K

Reward for person who set Hadley on fire: $5,500

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Hundreds of people and families have sent in donations for Hadley the cat, who was brought to the Humane Society of Kent County on July 3 after being set on fire.

Hadley suffered third-degree burns over his ears, neck, back and legs after someone soaked him in an accelerant and burned him. The cat is in critical but stable condition after undergoing multiple surgeries.

Hadley has received more than $10,000 in donations for his medical care. Many have come with notes addressed to the cat.

Investigators are following some leads, looking for the person who set Hadley on fire. The public has called in tips, according to Kent County Animal Control. It is unknown if any of the tips are considered promising.

The reward fund for information leading to the arrest of the person is at $5,500.

People with information regarding Hadley's case can call the Humane Society of Kent County at (616) 791-8218 or leave an anonymous tip at (616) 453-8900, extension 302.

The incident took place somewhere around Turner Avenue NW, between Ann and Leonard streets between June 26 and July 1.
