GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - One firefighter was injured and two dogs died when fire ripped through a house in the 1500 block of Kendall Street SE on Friday afternoon.
The fire began mid-afternoon and destroyed the home at the intersection of Kendall and Kalamazoo Avenue, north of 44th Street.
The residents moved into the home in 2011. No one was home at the time of the fire, though a possible cause was a lit fireplace.
The firefighter was injured when he went into the house believing someone needed to be rescued. Fire officials said his second-degree burns are not serious.
