GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Kent County Prosecutor William Forsyth has received the Grand Rapids Police Department report onĀ Rodrick Dantzler who killed seven people and then himself in July.
Forsyth is expected to release a statement next week.
GPRD was awaiting ballistics testing results from the Michigan State Police and toxicology test results on Dantzler before handing the report over.
Capt. Jeffrey Hertel of GRPD said his department investigated the case as if Dantzler was going to be prosecuted. When asked why GPRD was so thorough, Hertel said the department wanted to provide the community with answers:
"In the long run, the community is going to have some questions as to why this occurred, how this occurred, the chronological order of what occurred. The families will have questions. I think we owe it to the victims," he said.
Dantzler led police on a chase that ended in a standoff on July 7. He killed seven people in two different homes, held three people hostage, and then shot himself in the head.
