GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Among the 911 calls released by the Grand Rapids Police Department about the Rodrick Dantzler investigation is a call from Dantzler himself while he was holding three people hostage.
On July 7, Dantzler killed seven people and led police on a high speed chase through the city of Grand Rapids, crashed his car, then ran away from police and barged into a northeast side home where he took three hostages.
He called 911 shortly after taking the hostages:
911: 911, What's your emergency?
Dantzler: My emergency is I have a hostage and I don't want police barking orders at me.
911: You don't like police barking orders at you? Where are you?
Dantzler: You know where the f--- I'm at.
911: No actually I don't. Because you are calling from a cell phone, so I don't know where you are at.
Dantzler: I'm where the f------ hostages is at.
911: Which is where?
Dantzler: I've got all the police in Grand Rapids, you know where the f--- I'm at. I don't give a f--- about killing nobody, I'm already dead. So if you don't start doing what the f--- I say I'm going to kill another mother f-----.
None of the hostages was hurt by Dantzler. One woman was released after about an hour, the other two were unharmed and left the house after he shot himself to death.
24 Hour News 8 will have more information later in the day.
