GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Two people were hurt after a car crashed into a building at around 3 p.m. Sunday on Carlton Avenue and Lake Drive in Grand Rapids.

A 28-year-old Grand Rapids man was driving south on Carlton when he "experienced a medical condition," police said, causing him to lose control of his car, leave the roadway and hit a building. His passenger, a 28-year-old Grand Rapids woman, was taken to Saint Mary's Hospital and the driver was transported to Spectrum Butterworth.

Both were treated for nonlife-threatening injuries. Their names have not been released by police.

The building that was struck, located at 1331 Lake Drive, was a vacant business.

Speed and alcohol are not being investigated as factors into the crash. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Grand Rapids police.
