GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Two men have been charged after allegedly breaking into a southeast Grand Rapids residence and assaulting a man, leading to all three men sustaining stab wounds.
Thursday, Antonio Lavonne Harris and Marease Tarkell Harris were both charged with home invasion, conspiracy to commit home invasion and assault with intent to do great bodily harm less then murder.
Antonio Harris, 29, is being charged as a second-offense habitual offender. Marease Harris, 27, is being charged as a fourth-offense habitual offender.
The charges stem from a Tuesday evening incident. Authorities say a Jefferson Avenue SE resident used a knife to defend himself when two men he said he didn't know broke into his home and started to assault him.
All three were were hurt in the struggle. The resident was rushed to the hospital after calling police.
The suspects then fled in a car. Only a block or so away at the intersection of Jefferson and Highland Street, the car crashed outside of New Life Church of God in Christ.
The suspects were also hospitalized with stab wounds.
All three men are expected to survive.
