Their graffiti has shown up in Eastown

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Two young men have been arrested and charged after using spray paint to graffiti buildings in the Grand Rapids area.

According to court documents, Tyler Melinn, 21, and Andrew Lohman, 24, were arrested on May 8 for meddling and tampering with property near 131 and Wealthy Street.

Authorities said they had lots of spray paint cans with them, but dropped the cans and ran when the police showed up.

Their graffiti has shown up in Eastown, Heritage Hill, East Hills and on other buildings that were well cared for.

A statement sent from East Hills Council of Neighbors to their residents said: These young men were indiscriminate with their spray paint and did harm to our image as safe and friendly neighborhoods. To add insult to injury, Andrew and Tyler were originally from Jenison. Their actions show a blatant disrespect for the business owners and residents that have worked extremely hard to make this urban neighborhood a walkable and vital community within Grand Rapids.

Both Melinn and Lohman are out on bond.
