GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Two men died and a third man was seriously wounded in what witnesses described as an "assassination type of shooting" early Monday in Grand Rapids.

Police received a call around 2:10 a.m. about a fight in the neighborhood on Burton Street west of Division Avenue. As officers were en route, dispatchers received a second call about gunshots being fired in the area.

Officers arrived and saw two men dead; one lying in the middle of the street and the other on the side of the street; and a third person wounded in the mouth.

One of the victims was shot multiple times, police at the scene told 24 Hour News 8. The third victim was taken a hospital in serious condition, according to a news release from police.

Some neighbors in the area told 24 Hour News 8 the victims were walking on the sidewalk when a fourth man, the alleged shooter, walked up behind them and began shooting a gun. The witnesses said the suspect did not say anything to the victims before pulling the gun's trigger.

The suspect, who police say used a handgun in the incident, still hasn't been found. He is described as a black male with a medium build and wearing a white shirt with horizontal stripes and a white "fishing style" hat.

You are asked to call GRPD at 616.456.3604 or Silent Observer at 616.774.2345 if you can help solve this crime.
