GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Two men are being sought in connection with two armed robberies near the main campus of Grand Rapids Community College Wednesday.

Authorities said both happened around 7:20 p.m. The first robbery happened at Lafayette and Crescent, while the second was just blocks away at Barclay and Crescent.

In each, a man was walking on the sidewalk when two men came up and asked for the time. They then demanded his wallet and other valuable.

The first victim was threatened with a gun, and police believe the second victim -- who resisted -- was hit in the face with the gun.

The suspects are described as:

  • A man between 20-25, between 5-foot-5 and 5-foot-8, with a slim build and scruffy facial hair. He was wearing a dark or tan hooded sweatshirt that was pulled up.

  • A black man between 20-25, around 6-foot-1, with a medium build and short black hair. He was wearing a white zip-up sweathshirt with large multi-colored stripes.

The police consider these people armed and dangerous. If you have any information, you're asked to call the GRPD at 616.456.3604 or Silent Observer at 616.774.2345.
