GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - One person was shot in the stomach on Grand Rapids' northeast side Monday evening.
It happened in the area of Carrier Street and College Avenue NE.
The 24-year-old victim has claimed he was shot in a case of mistaken identity, police told 24 Hour News 8. He said he did not recognize the shooter.
After being shot, the victim was able to crawl to a house in the neighborhood of College Avenue and Leonard Street to seek help.
He sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle to undergo surgery.
The victim appears to be cooperating with police.
GRPD is searching the area for the suspect. No one is currently in custody.
