1 rescued, hospitalized after GR fire

Woman, 69, suffered serious injuries

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A Grand Rapids woman was hospitalized Tuesday evening after a fire occurred inside her home.

The fire sparked in the first floor area in the rear of the residence located near Livingston Avenue and Trowbridge Street NE.

Firefighters rescued the 69-year-old woman from the small fire and heavy smoke, according to a Grand Rapids Fire Department battalion chief at the scene. She was taken to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital for treatment to serious injuries.

The cause of the fire does not appear to be suspicious, but remains under investigation.
