FLINT, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a Michigan State Police trooper has been wounded in a shooting in Flint during a foot chase.
Police say the shooting happened early Wednesday and a 34-year-old man was taken into custody. The trooper was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released.
The Flint Journal reports the trooper was shot in the abdomen about 12:20 a.m. outside a convenience store as troopers were investigating an altercation in the parking lot. The suspect fled on foot and, while being chased, fired a shot that struck the trooper in the abdomen. The man was later caught.
The trooper's name wasn't immediately released. He's described as an 11-year veteran of the state police who was assigned to patrol in Flint.
